What We're Into: September 2016

Is summer really almost over?! With changing schedules and changing weather (eventually), we hope the suggestions below will inspire you to change up a few habits for the better. There are some real gems in this blog post, and we are so glad you are here to check them out. Enjoy!

It seems protein is king these days with the popularity of diets such as Paleo and ketogenic. But we think protein should be de-throwned and plants should take their rightful place as the central focus of a healthy diet. New research suggests protein, particularly from animal sources, might not be all it's cracked up to be when looking at long-term health outcomes. This article sums up the findings.

Elizabeth Gilbert, Author of "Eat, Pray, Love" and her latest book "Big Magic", is well into the second season of her podcast, Magic Lessons. In Magic Lessons, Gilbert acts as guide to creative-types (and she would argue that is all of us) struggling with an issue related to their craft. She follows up her conversation with an expert who adds their (always brilliant) take on the situation. If you are itching for a little (or a lot) more creativity in your life, this podcast is a must. Regardless of the guest's situation, Gilbert and the experts always seem to get right at the heart of life and humanity. Recommended: Magic Lessons' Season 1 closer with Brene Brown. These two thought-leader heavyweights do not disappoint. Please do yourself a favor and give it a listen! It is life-changing stuff and the aspiring artist in us is addicted.

Weeknights in our house mean bowls on heavy rotation. Sometimes it's Asian-inspired, sometimes Mexican, but our favorite is always this Mediterranean bowl with a roasted red pepper sauce. The sauce makes the meal. It is healthy and restaurant-worthy. While some really tasty sauces can take a while to prepare, this one is whipped together fast and easy.
