What We're Into: August 2016

Hey Juice Lovers! We're serious about health and bringing it to the masses. That's why we do what we do. In this month's "What We're Into" blog post, feast on a new mango and avocado salad recipe, a short article highlighting the hazards of cell phones, an awesome new health food web delivery service, and fun local ATX events - it's our hope you learn something new that will bring more health and happiness to your life. Enjoy!

We have been crazy for mangos this summer. They are insanely delicious and loaded with fiber and Vitamin C and A. Although mangos can be found in the grocery store year-round, mango season slows down beginning in September. Because July and August are at the peak of the season, you can find them in stores for the cheapest (and juiciest) right about now.

How to pick mangos? The less green on the peel, the riper it is.

In case you are intimidated to eat this perfect fruit because of it’s large seed, this is the best and easiest way to slice it. Here’s a salad recipe that just can’t be missed. Mango and avocado in one hearty, healthy salad? Yes, please!

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you haven’t heard already, having that phone by your ear or in your pocket throughout the day could be dangerous to you long-term. This short article summarizes the findings of an important study and offers sound advice. It is definitely worth the read.

Web Service:

Have you heard of Thrive Market? This is a concept that really resonates with us. Thrive offers organic and healthy foods and products you can shop for online and have delivered to you, at savings of 25-50% of what you will pay for these pricey items at the grocery store. We tend to order things like vitamins, coconut oil, toiletries, gluten-free pastas, and staples for the kids like granola bars and cereal. They have a wide variety of products and everything is non-GMO.

You can sign up for a free trial membership for 30 days and your first order is 15% off. If you like Thrive, pay $59.95 for a year membership. We love not spending a fortune on healthy staples, we love not having to go to the grocery store as often, we love that it’s free shipping for orders over $49….. but what we think is possibly the coolest part of Thrive? The fact that with each paid membership, they give a membership to a family in need. Love that! Healthy food made available to ALL!
