What We're Into: June 2016
Health-lovin’ Austinites! The JA blog is excited to introduce "What We’re Into", a monthly blog post where we will chat about what we're listening to, reading, eating and attending this month. We love having this forum to talk about all things health, wellness, and fun, and we hope "What We’re Into" will be an easy place for you to learn more about what's happening in the world of health and Austin fun. We’d love to hear what you are into, too! Enjoy!
Have you tried roasted cabbage yet? If not, you must! We can’t get enough!
Cabbage is a super nutrient-dense cruciferous veggie, high in anti-oxidants and ant-inflammatory benefits. Roasting cabbage is an easy and different way to add this disease-fighting veggie to your weekly rotation.
This recipe is the one we’ve been using for the delicious onion dijon sauce to drizzle over the top of your cabbage. Couldn’t be easier, healthier, cheaper or more tastier!
Our favorite podcaster, Rich Roll, recently interviewed Moby. Many topics were covered, including Moby’s fascinating personal story, addiction, veganism, mindfulness and joy in the everyday, and saving the planet. We found the in-depth interview to be interesting, inspiring and well, quite epic. Take a listen.
If you are reading this, chances are you are interested in health and may know more on the topic than the average person. Maybe you have read research on the amazing benefits to the body and mind of mindfulness meditation.
While I’m sure we would all love to go into a quiet room, sit on a meditation cushion and get our zen on for 30 minutes a day, sometimes (often times?) it's just not possible.
And if you are new to meditation, a daily, lengthy meditation practice might be intimidating and prevent you from ever getting started.
But if you are interested in getting started and learning more, here’s a great article, "Mindfulness for People Who Are Too Busy To Meditate", about how to work the principles of mindfulness into your everyday routine. In it, find practices that last mere seconds, but will reap benefits if practiced throughout the day.
